Most athletes set several goals for themselves at the beginning of each season. While the goals may vary in difficulty, they all require some level of work and dedication to reach them. Talin Harger is a sophomore at Ardmore High School, and he knows what it takes to be at his best.
“To get where I am today, it has taken hard work, practice, and coaches who believe in me and help me believe in myself,” he said. “My parents and coaches motivate me to always do my best.”
Harger is a pitcher and second baseman for the Tigers’ baseball team. He is also a member of the band, Sparks, Robotics, CTS, and the Native American Club.
Throughout his life, there have been several people who have made an impact on Talin’s life.
“My mom and dad are my biggest role models,” he said. “They raised me to be a good human and not give up on my dreams. Another would be my favorite teacher, Mr. Moreno, because he strives to make me a better version of myself every day.”
But it is not just adults who have helped Talin grow into who he is. He says that his teammates have also played a big role.
“Karter Loftis challenges me to be better and picks me up when things aren’t going great,” he said. “One of the more underrated guys on our team is Evan Hamilton. He works hard but doesn’t always get the appreciation he deserves.”
Being able to play for his school is something that Harger is proud to be able to do. And he knows that it is about more than just himself.
“Win or lose, I still wear Ardmore across my chest, so my attitude matters,” he said. “I am also a role model for the younger kids. I want them to see me keeping my head held high, no matter the number on the scoreboard.”
