Khamylle Williamson is a senior at Ardmore High School. She’s been playing basketball since she was around four years old. Khamylle grew up watching her dad coach her brother and saw the love that her brother had for the game; giving her the want to also try it out. Her favorite parts of basketball are getting to create new bonds with her teammates, scoring, and playing defense. The highest moment in Khamylle’s high school career so far, was making it to the playoffs for the first time.
Khamylle’s favorite subject in high school is biology because she really enjoys all of the different labs that they work through in class. She doesn’t have a favorite teacher because she adores them all. In her free time, she likes to go out to eat, watch movies, play card games, and make Tiktoks with her friends and family. In the future, Khamylle plans to attend either Southern Tech or Langston University for esthetics.
Khamylle is her own biggest role model because she constantly strives to improve herself and learn from her experiences. Her biggest impacts have been her family. “Without them, I wouldn’t be the person that I am today,” she says. Khamylle also says “My family gets me through tough times by offering unwavering support, providing a listening ear, and reminding me of my strengths.”
Basketball has taught her the importance of teamwork, discipline, and resilience. Khamylle says to be a great athlete takes a combination of natural talent, relentless dedication to practice, strong physical conditioning, mental toughness, and the ability to work well with teammates on and off the court. Her advice to her fellow athletes is to always stay focused on improving your skills, listen to your coaches, and remember that teamwork is key. “Every player has a role that contributes to the success of the team,” she says.
