“Khalayah is a great player, she sees the floor well and can shoot the three! Great student and all-around good kid both on and off the floor,” said coach Debra Manley.
VYPE Magazine caught up with Willis to learn more about this senior and what she loves about being a Lady Tiger.
VYPE: Khalayah, what do you love most about your team and teammates?
Willis: I love how we can all joke around and have fun with each other. It’s always a good time when I’m with them. I’m going to miss playing with all of them.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher, from any grade and why?
Willis: My favorite teacher was coach McHatton, who I had my junior year which was also my track coach. I enjoyed going to her class, she cared about her students and made class fun every single day.
VYPE: What are your plans after you graduate?
Willis: My plan after high school is to go to college, get a scholarship for basketball and major in sports medicine.
VYPE: What is your favorite memory from high school?
Willis: I would like to say homecoming week this year which is my senior year. That week was the best time I’ve had in high school. So many people participated in the themes, which made it memorable and a good time.
VYPE: Who will show up at your ten-year reunion as the most successful person from your class?
Willis: The person I say will show up as the most successful in my class is Honeyzti Jefferson. She’s a very smart girl and has her head on straight, I know she’s going to be successful.
VYPE: Here’s your chance to give a shoutout to anyone you want! Say thanks, hello, goodbye, or whatever you want!
Willis: I would like to give a shoutout to my family who pushes me every day and believes in me even when I don’t believe in myself.
