Before the lights come on and the first pass is thrown, Jadence Wright carries a simple message with him: keep pushing.

The Ardmore High School junior has developed that mindset through football, track and the people closest to him. A wide receiver for the Tigers, Wright knows that every route, practice rep and difficult moment can become an opportunity to improve. Whether he is lining up on the football field or competing on the track, he approaches his sports with the determination to keep moving forward.

Football has already given Wright memories he will not forget. One of his favorites came in a road game against Ada, when he scored three touchdowns on the opponent’s home field. For a receiver, finding the end zone once is a special feeling. Doing it three times in the same game created a performance that remains at the top of Wright’s list.

That game also included another moment that made the night even more meaningful. Wright got to see his cousin, Ja’Juan Lee, score his first touchdown against Ada.

“It was one of my favorite memories,” Wright said of watching his cousin reach the end zone.

The experience reflects what Wright values about athletics: individual accomplishment matters, but celebrating teammates and family makes the moments even better. His success on the field is tied to the people who motivate him away from it.

Wright said football has taught him discipline, responsibility and resilience. The sport has shown him the importance of refusing to quit when things become difficult.

“Football has taught me to never give up and that it’s only gonna get better,” Wright said.

That outlook comes from the example set by his parents. Wright said his mother inspires him through the hard work she puts in for him and his brother. He sees her work 12-hour shifts without complaining, even during challenging times. His father provides another source of encouragement through the motivation he offers and the care he shows.

“He pushes through anything no matter what,” Wright said.

Wright also appreciates the support he has received in the classroom. His favorite teacher was last year’s English teacher, Mrs. Doby, whom he remembers as fun, energetic and supportive.

As he continues his junior season, Wright plans to rely on the advice that has shaped his approach: “Push through. Don’t let anyone get in the way of what you got going on.”

For Wright, that means continuing to chase big plays, support those around him and build toward an even brighter future.
