Goodbye Ardmore, Hello OU
Jessica Johnson is a senior at Ardmore High School and is counting down the days till graduation, in a good way. Jessica is the head Drum Major for the Pride of Ardmore, Public Relations Officer for National Honor Society, and the President of Leaflets Club. Academic advisor Paige Henry says that Jessica is seen as the leader of the team and is continually voted as team captain.
“She (Jessica) always has a positive attitude, and her energy helps boost the rest of the team,” said Henry.
Jessica says her favorite subject is Band and would like to give a shoutout to her band directors Mr. Chauvin Aaron, Mr. John Moreno, and Mr. TJ Tolbert for the great work they put in to help boost the Fine Arts program. She enjoys studying the topic of chords in music, and the different sound effects they create.
Ever since the age of five, Jessica has dreamed of becoming an elementary teacher in Oklahoma. After graduating, her plans are to attend the University of Oklahoma majoring in Elementary Education. Her kindergarten teacher Mrs. Debra Fields always said, “Good, better, best. Never let it rest, until your good is better, and your better is best,” and she chose to stick by that forever.
If given the chance to meet one historical person, Jessica would choose Amelia Earhart.
“I think she is very brave, and in her own way paved the path for women to prove their worth.” She would also want to warn her not to take her last flight.
Jessica’s advice to the underclassmen is, “not every person will like you, so you need to love yourself so much that their dislike won’t bother you.” She would also like to remind everyone reading this to remember to take breaks in your life.
“Even at your busiest, it’s important to let yourself rest and relax. Self-care is self-love.”
Congratulations Jessica on your accomplishments and the best of luck at The University of Oklahoma!
