The Tigers have eight returning starters on the defensive side of the ball. Coach Newby says the defensive philosophy is simple, yet key to a solid year for the team.
“Our defensive plan is to stop the run and not give up big plays,” he said. “If we can do that, I think we will be on track for a really great season.
Returning to the defensive line are defensive end Bryce Allen (5-10, 205, Jr.), nose guard Gavin Hobbs (5-10, 230, Sr.), and defensive tackle Quentin Sheppeard (6-1, 240, Sr.). These three will play a key role in stopping the opponent’s run game. Evan Smith (5-10, 170, Sr.) and Ethan Moen (6-2, 180, Sr.) will be playing in the secondary and both look to have a big season. Lining up at linebacker will be Eric Fields (6-1, 180, Jr.) that will be focused on attacking the ball.
